Every gentle shade of green
and blue
often black / dressed in gray
Hues in constant motion flit carelessly
between the other
A complexity of otherworldly beauty
with every blink of the eye
that pauses to behold
Each centimeter viewed left to right,
a new dance of joy
An allure so deep, and rich
you can’t fathom the fathoms
You feel pulled to submerge completely
and stay in its soft strong light
Most pay attention only to the deafening roar,
and crashing white
A few will look long enough to see
the moments of complete, smooth serenity,
precisely as if the water has let itself sleep
Most days it only wants to play
You see what you wish
You keep looking as long as you decide…
to sit there without turning away
from the loneliest force
You will touch and try to pause the relentless ingenuity
in every move it makes
You are there to share…witness
each move
or you aren’t
submerged
True observation,
real knowing
is as rare as a blood-red crest
Most will turn their backs
in exhaustion, intimidation
A few will drown
by their own recklessness
Stay and revel in the disquieting power
Live in those shades of green that make you
so happy,
if you feel you deserve to keep marveling
These waves know nothing but to give
under every day’s sun
and each night’s moon, without cease
to hold and to thrash
existing only to envelop
As you relish each warm breath
what will you give in return
Will you even try
to live alongside her song
and become yourself—every shade of blue
You will not
And I suppose that’s what the museums are for
